The platform behind Slovakia's national research evaluation.

VER 2026 — the periodic evaluation of research, development, and creative activity — is the most comprehensive assessment of Slovak science of its kind. Institutional submissions, creative outputs, case studies, and the work of international evaluation panels all run through a platform our senior engineers have built and evolved in direct collaboration with the Slovak Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth — for years.

Táto referencia je dostupná aj v slovenčine.
406 submissions (355 from universities · 51 from Slovak Academy of Sciences institutes) across 28 research areas · 6,750 creative outputs by 10,375 researchers · 169 international evaluators from 23 countries · in continuous operation and evolution since 2022 · results published June 15, 2026

Client & context

Client: Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic.

Engagement: a platform for the full lifecycle of the national research evaluation: submissions by public universities and research institutions, management of creative outputs and case studies, and the review process of international evaluation panels.

Engagement form: direct, long-term project engagement of our senior engineers by the ministry — two engineers, continuously since 2022, zero turnover.

The challenge

A national research evaluation is not an ordinary web project. Institutions submit across 28 research areas — each with creative outputs (up to 25, max 5 per employee under an equitability principle), societal-impact case studies, and research-environment documentation. International evaluators then assess everything through a structured process with different weightings per discipline group.

That means: complex domain rules that evolve during preparation; data that decides institutional reputations and the direction of public funding; deadlines that cannot move; and users ranging from researchers to foreign evaluators who must navigate the system without training.

In numbers: 406 submissions — 355 from universities, 51 from Slovak Academy of Sciences institutes — carrying 6,750 creative outputs from 10,375 researchers, assessed by 169 international evaluators from 88 universities and research institutes across 23 countries; 270 evaluated submissions received full quality profiles.

What we built

  • Submission management — structured institutional applications: creative outputs, impact and environment case studies
  • Evaluation process management — review interfaces for 169 international evaluators with role-graded permissions, across 28 research areas combined into discipline groups
  • Aggregation & outputs — processing evaluations into institutional quality profiles
  • Administration & process support for the ministry across the full evaluation cycle

An institution's application dashboard: sections for properties, staff and outputs, societal impact, and creative environment, each with its own status

One application, every section in one place — outputs, societal-impact case studies, creative environment, each tracked to completion. The surface behind all 406 submissions.

A guided, multi-step submission across the 28 areas — for users who navigate it once, without training.

How we delivered

We built and evolve this platform the classical engineering way: senior engineers, a long-term partnership, rigorous testing, and change discipline — years before AI tooling existed. This is the foundation everything else we do stands on.

Ongoing maintenance and evolution now benefit from modern agentic tooling — always under the supervision of the same senior engineers who designed the system and know it to the last detail. For the client, nothing changes except the pace: same accountability, same people, faster iterations.

Results

  • The evaluation ran. 406 submissions filed, 6,750 creative outputs assessed by 169 international evaluators, VER 2026 results published on June 15, 2026 — on a platform that carried the entire process.
  • In continuous operation and evolution since 2022 — a long-term partnership, not deliver-and-leave.
  • Public sector at full complexity — legislative requirements, evolving methodologies, immovable deadlines.

What this means for you

If you run complex processes — submissions, evaluations, administrative workflows, registries — you need a partner who understands the public sector and stays for years. That is exactly how we work.
